Hi and welcome! So you're probably wondering what this blog is all about before you decide to put time into reading this series. Well let me share with you what you can expect in this little internet space.
I created this blog to share my story, and just as a warning, it's a fairly long one. That's why I decided to break it up into multiple posts and created a "series" of sorts. This series is meant to show you what I have witnessed throughout the healthcare system in America while I was going through some tough times struggling with my health. I welcome any feedback, and I'm sure not everyone will agree with all of my opinions, but do keep in mind that this is MY story and my opinions have been formed from years of research and actually living through this experience. Nothing here is made up or exaggerated, this is me just telling you exactly what I have been through, point blank.
My hopes are that you can see what I have seen- the complete and utter failure that is the American "healthcare" system. I will take you on a journey, outlining the past 7+ years of my life as I fought to get healthy again and along the way I will point out exactly where the healthcare system fell short for providing me with sufficient care. I'm not writing this for sympathy, so please, don't feel bad for me. The good news is that I'm on a track to be healthy again soon. I am writing this to share for those that may have been through something similar, in hopes that they can know they are not alone. I am writing this because I feel like there is so much mis-information out there and I want to set things straight. I am writing this because I cannot believe that in this day and age, with all the technology the world has never seen before, that doctors and healthcare professionals can still be so misguided and flat out wrong about their treatment suggestions for their patients. I am writing this because our freedom is at stake and I WILL NOT allow other people who don't even know me to make personal and medical decisions for me.
Going through all of this for the past seven years, I never dreamed I would share it on the internet for everyone to read. For the most part, I actually prefer to fly under the radar with my symptoms, pretending to everyone around me that I am perfectly normal and not in any pain. Except for my mom and husband who know all the fun details, my family and close friends know I am sick, but for the most part they have no idea the full extent of everything and that's how I preferred it. But here I am sharing for all the world to read because I really feel like the timing is right. Our freedoms are being called into question daily and unfortunately there are A LOT of people that are totally OK with that. It upsets me more than you will ever know, especially because of everything I have been through. As an American I feel it is my RIGHT to have a CHOICE in my body and my health. After seven years of being in the thick of the healthcare system, I can say will full confidence I do not trust any MD, any pharmaceutical company, or any politician to decide what goes into my body and what treatment is best for me. Only I know what is best for me, and I will continue to fight for my right to choose.
OK enough rambling. Here it is: My Story...
